Visualization with the Muse...

EK is, shall we say, on a rant? Rant is such a benign word to describe what Ellie Mae has been rambling on and on about for the past few weeks. I swear she's like a dog with a bone and there's not a durn thing I can do to convince her to let go of that bone. Of course, considering the bone, I sort of can't blame her. And I'm a tad bit jealous, but, um, well, I, uh... crap, she sent me a visual again. Okay. That's it. I'm sharing the pain, suffering, and insanity that is my muse-author relationship with EK.
(May the Fates forgive me for what I'm about to do...)

It all began so... innocently. Or rather, it was subtle. Yeah, it was subtle. First, it was a comment from a character—the comment was Delilah. And the character in question is my blood elf with vampiric tendencies named Lukyos. I call him Luk. Although EK calls him Lucky. Personally, I think she's the lucky one in this little game show. But I'll get to that. To give you a visual, Luk reminds me of Alexander Skarsgard. (Can you tell I've watched a few too many episodes of True Blood? Yeah, well if I'd known then what I know now, then I would have flipped to the Disney channel long before EK could have absorbed any scenes with Eric the vamp in them. Of course, the thing about Fate is that this was bound to happen and I wouldn't have been surprised if she'd latched on to either Phineas or Ferb to make this sick, twisted game of hers a reality. And yeah, it would have been Ferb. *shudder* I'll never be able to watch that show the same way after this. But again I digress…)

Okay, enough of the preamble, Luk is the one who tossed this grenade of a bone at EK and sent her on a mission from Olympus. The mission: watch as many Tom Jones videos on YouTube as you can possibly handle. Anyone else out there besides me say, What? Quickly followed up with a big, fat, Why? Well, um, it appears that both Luk and EK have this thing about music and, um, stage presence. I mean, I didn’t flinch (much, although there was quite a bit of eye twitching) when EK told me to go watch a classic Freddie Fender video on YouTube for Wasted Days and Wasted Nights. And I gotta say that the scene that came to me after watching that classic of classics was soo not what I was expecting. But when Luk popped up after that set ended in a pair of tight black pants and a shirt that was red with ruffles and open from the throat to the belly button… and was that maracas in his hands? And—ohmiword, where the heck did that band come from and why on earth is he singing at the Copacabana? And what in the---whoa! At this point, my dear-oh-so-dear-dear-dear reader, all I can say is that Luk is packing heat. And then some. I do believe I have gone blind. With a perma-grin.
I beleive we can all agree that I was (and still am to some degree) in a state of… shock. And awe. Yep, definitely shock and awe. I mean, how in the world could Luk could have maneuvered his, for lack of a better phrase, glock… into that confined of a space to—ohmi, um, yeah, now I totally get why EK refers to him as Lucky. Because he sure as heck was lucky to be able to do that move where he—WHOA! Anyone else besides me see him do that move that screams ouch and—whew. That fabric has got to be forgiving, because I swear if those had been jeans… well, the word emasculation comes to mind.
So anyway, the moral to this story is that EK has a method to her madness. It’s called torture. And since I’m a visual creature with a healthy (occasionally detrimental-slash-maddening) imagination, she has me getting to know my characters by music. Because I am not a character driven writer. Oh no, not in the least. Nope, I come up with the plot world first, then tug the characters into my world.

And apparently my world is set in Vegas and has plenty of stage shows to… fuel the fires? *chuckle* Yeah, well, I’ll let y’all be the judge of that one. Here’s the link for Tom Jones and his Delilah in Vegas… and if I’d been in the audience, I can assure you that I would have had that same look on my face that those folks have. Oh and yeah, this is the classic 'Luk making love to his music' dance.

Until next time… take care and happy musing!
