GIMP and my First Cover

Happy, Sunday!
Well, I did it. I conquered the invisible, pink dragon and made my first cover. WOOT! WTG, me!

For those who are interested... I made it using GIMP 2.6. GIMP 2.6 is a FREE, open source software that is very similar to Photoshop.  You can find out more information for the GIMP at their website: www.gimp.org. The  photo is one that I snagged from www.dreamstime.com.

And now without further psychobabble, I give you my very first cover that I am sooo proud of!

Sigh. I think it turned out rather well, don't you?

Thanks, Jae Lynn! I have to admit that it took me some time to get up to speed with GIMP. But once I figured out that I can hit page up and down to filter through the layers... LOL then everything started to fall into place. One day, I'll even break down and read the manual on how to use it. LOL

Carla! *HUGS* Glad you like it! I think it's hot, too (hehe but I'm a bit bias, LOL). What makes me love it even more is that it even fits with what the book is about.

Bella! GIMP users unite! Form of a stock photo, shape of a flask of caffeinated beverage---hehe. I'm so glad you like the cover! I checked out the other stock photo sites and I liked dreamstime the best. Not sure why, but I just liked that site the best.

Judi--Thanks for checking it out! I'm so glad you like it! I finished it a few days ago but sat on it for a while to make sure I really, really liked it. And I do! Squeeee! I'm just so durned proud of myself--especially considering that the only thing I excel at drawing is chemical formulas--LOL! ;o)

Elise--Thanks! I'm so glad you like it and stopped by--For more than the reason you'd probably think. LOL. It has everything to do with your name and the next book I've just decided that I'll be working on after I get Emily's Affair up. I call it Seducing Elise. Which makes me ask, How do you feel about playing hard to get for the hero? Because that's what the Elise in my story is gonna do--LOLOLO.

Cynthia! *HUGS* Thanks! Look at me. I'm getting teary eyed. I'm so thrilled that all of yall like it. Squeeee! I'm thinking that I might just print it out on some premium paper and frame it for my office--to celebrate my milestone. hehe, and then break out some sparkling apple cider to continue the celebration. And maybe put a call in for a special pizza delivery from Stud Muffin Pizza Delivery service. hehehe, oh yeah, now that sounds like a good idea. LOL
Take care and thanks for stopping by!

You did a wonderful job!
Very nice. Is this for somthing you're self-publishing, or did your publisher let you do the design?

Thanks, Lisa! You're the best! I checked out your Night Walker cover and (btw, I cannot wait for it to come out!) between yours and the ones that Sarra Cannon has on her Peachtree high series... well, I used both of them for inspiration. Because they are just beautiful!

Karen and Gerri--Thanks! It is hot, isn't it? LOL

Kathryn--Thanks for stopping by! I decided to self publish this one. I've got a line of manuscripts on deck to get out to folks after I get this one done. Some for self publishing and some I'd like to get to NY. Truth be told, I've got more than a couple of dozen novels that I'm ready to rock and roll on to get out this year. LOL, looks like I'm gonna be a busy, busy little girl for the last half of 2011, doesn't it?
